What can I say, It is Lidia. She and Mario Batali have been truly inspirational to me as a fairly new cook. After visiting Italy I was looking for someone to provide real Italian recipes. I cook from this book at least once a week. Usually more often.
Lidia’s insights to the regions her recipes are from are interesting and helpful.

Great recipe book, it has many of the dishes I’ve watched Lidia make on her tv program. There are a lot of unusual things and a lot of traditional, too.

If you love to eat and you also love to cook, and if it’s not Italian it’s not food, then Lidia’s Italy is your book! Great story, great lady and she absolutely knows what she’s doing in the kitchen. I made her Fennel with proscuitto and parmesan and my dinner guests, who’d never had fennel, fell in love with it.
